The annual recruitment event proposed by the Department of Corporate Partnerships brought together around 100 companies on campus, which offered nearly 3,000 internships to students from the three schools within the Pôle Léonard de Vinci: the Management School (EMLV), the Engineering School (ESILV) and the Institute of Internet & Multimedia (IIM).
The EMLV Corporate Forum, which traditionally takes place in October, was organised this year under the banner of Devinci Career Fair. The event was aimed at giving the students the opportunity to meet as many on-campus recruiters as possible in a single day, to facilitate internship recruitment.
Just like in a beehive kingdom, all students in 4th and 5th year had a job to do during the Career Fair : they were able to meet and pitch their applications to recruiters in all sectors: Banking, Finance Insurance, Digital, Retail, Transport, Consulting, Audit… and for all the marketing and business positions that EMLV’s students are trained for, accross different specialisations. More than 250 recruiters from about 100 companies came to exchange and share insights on career paths and into their organizations.
The Devinci Career Fair, held every year jointly with the Department of Corporate Partnerships and the student association DeVinci Partners, is an opportunity for both students and on-campus recruiters. During the Fair, students were able to get information and apply to different internship offers and recruiters had a better chance to connect with business, engineering and multimedia students, to brand their organizations and to build a talent pipeline for their future recruitment needs.
Recruiting events (Career Fair, Alumni Fair and Internship Fair) are an important part of the corporate partnership strategy established by EMLV’s Corporate Department to forge strategic, long-term, mutuallly beneficial relationships with companies.
Devinci Career Fair 2019: students and recruiters together on campus
The Pôle’s partner companies gathered on campus had the opportunty to discover a range of qualified profiles adapted to their recruitment needs, thanks to the active participation of students from the three schools : future managers, engineers and digital specialists. It’s one of the advantages of the partnership with the companies in the Pôle de Vinci cluster : having access to different and complementary profiles available on a single campus.
EMLV’s students received training on how to prepare for a career fair and succeed, as a logical step of the soft skills module. It stands to reason that any recruitment challenge (job interview, career fair, etc.) needs careful preparation and anticipation of the questions and answers.
Students looking for an internship or simply looking to explore the job market have used these three tips to have a successful career fair experience.
Steps upstream to the Career Fair : be precise about your career goals; learn more about the participating companies and the employment opportunities by reading the “Devinci Career Fair” book; prepare your answers to potential job interviews: sell your skills, test your 3-minute pitch, optimise your CV for the internship hunt.
On D-Day: consider your physical appearance; present yourself as the best possible candidate; ask the right questions (and listen to the answers from the recruiters); collect contact information.
Steps downstream to the Career Fair : follow-up all internship leads and make physical and social networking with recruiters.
Feedback from the companies is positive : they were satisfied with the quality and diversity of the candidates. This stands as proof of the Pole de Vinci’s methodology educational pertinence: build transversal and hybrid skills.
