To foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange in banking and finance, the Vietnam Symposium in Banking and Finance 2023 (VSBF 2023) took centre stage in Hanoi, Vietnam, by the end of October. With the active involvement of EMLV and other esteemed partners, VSBF 2023 successfully facilitated an international dialogue, fostering collaboration and knowledge dissemination in the dynamic fields of banking and finance.
The symposium’s global representation, diverse sessions, and esteemed speakers underscored its significance as a catalyst for advancing research and understanding in the ever-evolving world of finance.
About the Vietnam Symposium in Banking and Finance 2023
Co-organized by the Banking Academy and Vietnam Association of Scientists and Experts (AVSE) Global, this symposium brought together experts, academics, and practitioners from around the globe.
EMLV emerged as an institutional partner, affirming its commitment to advancing financial education and research on the international stage.
The symposium, held under the patronage of the International Society for the Advancement of Financial Economics (ISAFE), also received support from Massey University in New Zealand. This collaborative effort marked a significant milestone in the school’s international research profile, attracting participants and presenters from over 30 countries.
EMLV, as a co-organizer and facilitator to provide a platform for academics
One of the critical objectives of VSBF 2023 was to provide a platform for academics, policymakers, and practitioners to share their research findings and engage in discussions on pressing issues in banking and finance. As a co-organizer and facilitator, EMLV contributed to providing a platform for academics.
The symposium comprised various topics, with over 110 presentations across 35 parallel sessions. The scientific and organizing committee actively encouraged early submissions, demonstrating a commitment to ensuring a comprehensive and timely review process.
Submissions were invited in various areas, including asset pricing and allocation, banking regulation, behavioural finance, corporate governance, digital finance, financial modelling, investment funds, and risk management.
A spectrum of topics from macro-financial linkages to financial crises and contagion
Three plenary sessions featured distinguished speakers, including Dr Jean-François Boulier, Honorary Chairman of the French Asset Owners Association (Af2i) and Editor-in-Chief of Bankers, Markets & Investors; Professor Marc Goergen from IE Business School, IE University, Spain; and Professor John Goodell from the University of Akron, United States.
These sessions added depth and expertise to the symposium, covering a spectrum of topics from macro-financial linkages to financial crises and contagion.
Exploring the challenges and developments in banking and finance
The two-day event comprised 39 sessions, comprehensively exploring contemporary challenges and developments in banking and finance.
Participants engaged in discussions on crucial topics such as corporate governance, asset valuation, behavioural finance, market efficiency, sustainable finance, and the role of fintech in shaping the financial landscape.
A notable session titled “Meet the Editors” provided a unique opportunity for participants to interact with the editors of prominent academic journals, gaining insights into the publishing process and scholarly communication.
