With this event, the esteemed French journal M@n@gement, known for being the first open-access journal in its field, participated in a special issue focusing on “Delivering Sustainability through Ecosystem Innovation.”
A call for papers was launched as part of the Innovation Day, attracting 21 submissions from authors representing 28 institutions.
These submissions came from some of the most prominent figures in the academic world, including deans, vice deans, and even university presidents from renowned business schools. The selected authors were invited to participate in a one-day Paper Development Workshop (PDW) to further develop these groundbreaking ideas.
During the workshop, they engaged in collaborative discussions to refine their research.
A dynamic roundtable discussion brought together experts from academia and industry to discuss the pivotal role of sustainable innovation ecosystems.
As emphasised during the event, organisations working in isolation can no longer address the challenges of sustainable development, both environmental and social.
A holistic, ecosystem-based approach is necessary, one that transcends organisational boundaries and fosters collaboration across sectors.
The core message of the conference debate centred around the pressing need for sustainable innovation to be driven by cooperative or “competitive” approaches. Innovations prioritising sustainability must emerge from collaborations between stakeholders, addressing the articulation between business models that have traditionally operated independently.
As noted by several speakers, no single company will be able to meet society’s growing expectations regarding sustainable development and corporate social responsibility. Instead, the future of business lies in fostering ecosystemic partnerships that advance a shared, circular economy.
This event provided a unique platform for academics and practitioners to exchange ideas on the sustainable challenges facing innovative ecosystems. Alumni and corporate partners from De Vinci Higher Education also participated in this enriching dialogue, reflecting the institution’s commitment to fostering real-world impact through collaborative efforts.
The roundtable featured a diverse panel of experts from academic and industrial fields, each contributing unique perspectives on sustainable innovation. The panel included:
Each expert brought valuable insights to the discussion, enhancing the event’s intellectual and practical dimensions.
The Innovation Day laid the groundwork for an ongoing dialogue about sustainability through collaborative innovation.
The annual event aims to continue attracting thought leaders and industry experts to explore how businesses and institutions can work together to create sustainable solutions for the challenges ahead.
As the conversation around sustainability evolves, this inaugural event underscores the importance of cross-sector collaboration in driving ecosystemic innovation.
