Melanie Anthony, Class of 2020: A Digital Marketing Journey Post-EMLV MBA

Melanie Anthony is originally from Malaysia. She is currently the Social Operations Manager for Hilti Group, a company specializing in construction tools for the B2B industry. Before joining Hilti, she worked as a Digital Communication Specialist at Safran Aerospace, a French aerospace company.

Melanie moved to France in 2019 to pursue a Master of Business Administration at EMLV. Her choice of this school was primarily motivated by its integrated internship programme, which allowed her to gain practical experience and establish crucial professional connections.

The Academic and Professional Background after EMLV

After graduating, I worked at Safran as a Digital Communications Specialist, where I supported the creation of content for various communication channels. Subsequently, I joined Dassault Systèmes, supporting lead generation by creating high-quality B2B marketing content.

Looking back at my EMLV studies, they have greatly influenced my success today. Studying at EMLV significantly boosted my career progression.

Holding a degree or master’s from a French institution enhances your resume and increases your job prospects in France. Employers value that you have lived, worked, and studied in a French-based school, making you a competitive candidate for various opportunities.

EMLV’s MBA is a full-time, one-year programme of intensive learning and practical application with its corporate partners.

During my studies at EMLV, I exchanged with talented academics through core courses, lab immersion, and capstone projects, which facilitated the development of critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and hands-on experience essential for a comprehensive understanding of the field.

The Challenges of the communication and digital marketing world

My passion for communication and digital marketing guides my career. I particularly enjoy the continuous learning and adaptation to new technologies and platforms that emerge each year.

One of the significant challenges I encountered in France was the language barrier. However, many French companies are now open to international talent, making it easier for those proficient in English to integrate.

I chose to stay in France after the COVID-19 pandemic because of the professional opportunities and quality of life.

I appreciate the country’s cultural diversity and learning opportunities. In my future career, I aspire to become a team leader or head of the department in digital marketing while working in a healthy and collaborative work environment.

Advice for International Students Coming to France

For students considering EMLV, I highly recommend this school for its strategic location in La Défense, cultural diversity, and experienced professors.

I advise future graduates to research the tools and skills demanded in their target industry and obtain relevant certifications to stand out in the job market.

My journey at EMLV and professional experiences in France have allowed me to develop a fulfilling digital marketing career aligned with my passions and professional goals.
