Henri SELMER Paris, this a unique know-how and sense of excellence, and 4/5th of export production.

22,000 instruments come out of the workshops every year, 80% of which are saxophones, and more than 100,000 saxophone and clarinet mouthpieces. For better quality control, production is fully integrated. Given its high-end positioning, the Henri SELMER Paris brand, recognized worldwide, has implemented a demanding quality policy.

Even if such production involves many different professions and skills, they all have in common excellence and expertise, with a shared passion: let the music live!

The company was founded by Henri Selmer, renowned clarinetist. He first made reeds in his studio in Montmartre, then clarinets, which are sold in the United States where his brother, Alexander, also a clarinetist, makes them known.

Selmer obtained a gold medal for his clarinets at the Exposition Universelle of Saint-Louis in 1904. In 1921, the company began the manufacture of saxophones and in 1929 took over the company of Adolphe Sax. Selmer resists Asian competition by specializing in high-end.

Between 1932 and 1952, the company distinguished itself in the production of the iconic “Selmer guitars” (Selmer and Selmer Maccaferri models) thanks to the luthier Mario Maccaferri. Django Reinhardt contributes to making the guitars of French gypsy jazz.
