Presa, an MSc International Business programme student at EMLV, moved from Nepal to Paris in October 2024. Through advanced business education, she aims to bridge the gap between local and global markets.
Her experience highlights how EMLV’s global orientation and Paris La Défense location contribute to shaping internationally minded professionals.
From Kathmandu to Paris La Défense
With a background in strategic brand management and marketing, and a bachelor’s degree in Information Management, Presa built her firm in Nepal before pursuing international studies.
While developing projects with media and various brands, she identified a structural disconnect between the Nepalese and international business landscapes.
This gap, she says, motivated her decision to pursue an MSc in International Business: “I wanted to understand how global systems work. The structure and content of the programme were precisely what I was looking for.”
Choosing EMLV: Strategic Location and Global Exposure
EMLV’s location in the business district of Paris was a decisive factor. For Presa, proximity to international companies and business events played a role, but the school’s pedagogical model also made a difference.
She points out the cross-cultural environment fostered by students and faculty: “Professors come from different parts of the world and bring diverse insights. Their international experience enriches the programme with a real-world perspective.”
The MSc International Business is designed for international students from various academic and professional backgrounds. It provides tools and strategies to help organizations grow beyond their domestic markets and prepares graduates for international development and product management roles.
Practical Learning and Agile Courses
“The courses are practical, aligned with real-world scenarios, and condensed into an intense one-year format,” says Presa.
She appreciated the hands-on approach to learning, the agility of the curriculum, and the relevance of topics covered throughout the programme. She aims to secure an internship or job in Europe to better understand the local business context before eventually relaunching her entrepreneurial journey.
Advice for Future International Students
Presa offers one essential piece of advice for students planning to study abroad in France: “Equip yourself with the language.”
She emphasises that foundational knowledge in French can ease integration and help students adapt academically and socially more quickly. “It’s not about being fluent immediately, but having the basics can help smooth your transition.”
