Two 100% online “transversal” weeks for EMLV, ESILV and IIM students

As the confinement dictates, during these times of sanitary crisis, the two cross-curricular inter-school weeks took place in a remote learning format. Through collaborative tools, more than 2000 first – and second-year students were able to participate in two 100% online hackathons.

Improving students’ eloquence and remote collaboration are crucial concerns for management schools.

This year, the Soft Skills and Transversal Projects Department took the challenge and set up two transversal weeks 100% digital. In a first at the Pole Leonard de Vinci, a few hundreds of multidisciplinary project teams worked together remotely.

« Selling your ideas », a one-week training course in soft-skills for first-year students

1200 freshmen from the three schools – EMLV, ESILV and IIM – representing 200 project teams worked for five days with 43 soft skills trainers. The main theme? “How to sell your ideas”, a training programme covering crafting and spread of messages in remote collaborative environments.

Trainees and coaches got all the gear they needed to work remotely: collaborative tools, video meetings, messaging apps, email messages, and so on.

Zoom, Teams, Klaxoon, Whatsapp were among the tools and apps that made it possible for the teams and instructors to work from home.

« We had a literally super-team of teachers, trainers, and students for these 100% digital learning challenges. One thing is clear during these times of solitary confinement : the human dimension to the remote education is of strategic importance.” (Laure Betrand, Head of the Soft Skills and Transversal Projects Department )

The students were able to present their final projects through a Zoom video conference app. Juries made up ofindustry professionals and professors have judged each project in terms of both form and content: project quality, pitch, teamwork, soft skills at hand, and so on.

Transversality, a unique project at the Pole Leonard de Vinci

The Pole Leonard de Vinci has grouped together, within the same pedagogical department joint with ESILV, EMLV and IIM, all the activities, whether mandatory or volunteer, that help students on a daily basis to develop their personal skills. It’s about a comprehensive training system aimed at boosting student’s soft skills. The “transversal weeks” are a part of this program, which also includes associative life, sports, professional project development or even language classes.
