Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania, is also one of Erasmus students’ most popular destinations, with its many influences. That is also the focus of three EMLV students studying in Lithuania on an exchange programme who have made a Vilnius travel Instagram.
Fanny Dubreucq, Thomas Le Fur and Tom Grootenboer, class of 2023, went on an Erasmus semester abroad in Vilnius, Lithuania.
Vilnius University Business School, the first business school founded in Lithuania, is one of Leonard de Vinci Higher Education Cluster’s partner universities.
As part of their ongoing exchange programme, the three EMLV students started an Instagram travel account in late September. Its name casts no doubt: Vilnius Golden Guide, the ultimate guide for international students in exchange programs.
Exploring Vilnius as a local
On their Instagram blog, the EMLV exchange students create travel Instagram content about their Lithuania travels and share tips on experiencing life as a local in Vilnius.
The Vilnius Golden Guide includes spots to visit that are not in regular tour guide books, right places for any visitor to go and live his daily routine.
The authors also offer insights on food markets and stores for visitors to buy delicious food, cultural activities and places to visit and experience Vilnius, restaurants where local and tourists love to dine, portraits of people living in the city activities that give life to the capital.
“Our Instagram is aimed particularly at foreign students who are studying in Vilnius or who would like to come to Vilnius. Through Vilnius Golden Guide we want students to discover the beauty of this city filled with history and secrets”, says Fanny Dubreucq.
Choosing Vilnius, Lithuania for its year abroad
Visual gems, pieces of sound like the piano song played by Thomas in the streets of the bohemian district of Uzupis, the Vilnius Golden Guide makes people dream about Vilnius’ small streets, secret squares, restaurants and historical places. The blog reflects a multicultural image of the city that never ceases to surprise.
“Vilnius and Lithuania are not very common destinations for Erasmus students. In most cases, we know very little about the culture of Lithuania and its environment. Yet wrongly so, as this region is full of beautiful and culturally exciting places and monuments.
Studying in Lithuania is also an opportunity to discover the Baltic countries’ culture and architecture, which may amaze you with the charm of little-known European capitals such as Vilnius, Riga or Tallinn. A study abroad year in Lithuania is an invitation to discover another facet of the Old Continent and its history.
