Yaqi, MSc International Business – “Working in marketing and communications would be my ideal job”

Yaqi Zhao, a Chinese student in MSC International Business, chose EMLV because her willing was to find a master program in Paris “with a low-medium budget”. Now she enjoys this “six months intensive curriculum in an international both cooperative and competitive atmosphere”.

A friend recommended Yaqi to join EMLV, because it corresponded to the programme she wanted to study, the destination she wanted to go to and it matched her budget.

An MSc International Business combining academic and practical approaches

My willing was to find a one-year English master program with a low-medium budget. Then a friend recommended me EMLV.

After taking a campus tour and a face to face interview with Jill Tynan, Head of MSc International Business, I was satisfied with the business environment and the MSc programme. So, I made my decision immediately.

MSc International Business is designed to have a six months intensive course and a four to six months internship or dissertation, combining academic and practical approaches. We have learned about digital marketing, business transactions within countries, business laws and supply chain in international trade, and international finance for business development.

An internship in France

A Chinese company proposed a job of business development for the French market and a Hongkong startup proposed me to join an international project in Paris. However, I am still willing to find an internship in Multinational or French company in Paris.

My ideal job is to work in Marketing & Communications, especially in luxury goods & fashion industry.

Because my multi-language skills and multi-cultural background will be beneficial to connect with lots of people. I also enjoy working in this creative industry where sparks my interest.

French people and their habits

Generally speaking, French people are romantic and elegant. They have a very relaxing and fun-loving lifestyle. At the same time, they learn and work hard.

French people like talking about politics and food, but I have no idea why they complain all the time ! LOL

With two great cultures, both French and Chinese people tend to have friendly and gentle manners.

However, the younger generation of Chinese people is often not as relaxed as the French. And French people are more willing to express their feelings while the Chinese are not.

To be honest, I had heard a lot that French people were not as enthusiastic as the Italian, and they expected everyone speak French language. These prejudices are a bit true. But learning French made me easier to integrate into the local culture and it is also an essential skill to work in France.
